Business Aviation Lifts 'Flying Adventures' Magazine

Business Aviation Lifts Flying Adventures magazine
Dr. Michael Higgins, CEO and Publisher

“I could not accomplish a quarter of what I do if it weren’t for my business airplane,” says Dr. Michael Higgins, CEO and publisher of Flying Adventures, a travel magazine in print and on the web at www.flyingadventures.com.

He cites efficiency: “It’s not just the 22 miles per gallon (mpg) our company airplane gets, versus 20 mpg for my Solstice Roadster, but in the airplane I can travel straight, like an arrow.  Here in the West, where roads go every which way but straight, that’s very important.”

Dr. Higgins also emphasizes the flexibility the airplane provides him. “I can go multiple places, add or skip stops, and still be home in time for dinner,” he says. “That’s worth everything!” Earlier this year, he fulfilled an unexpected meeting request, received while he was in a conference with another client. It required only a 20-minute hop from one non-commercial airport to another, over a few mountain ridges. “It would have taken three hours by car,” he said.

“Enhanced customer service” is a buzz phrase Dr. Higgins can use, and mean it. “When a real estate client in Mexico calls, it’s easy to meet him the next day,” he says. “The last time I was there, he wanted an eagle’s view of his project, so I took him aloft. You think he was happy? You should have seen the smile on his face.”

Flying Adventures’ image is reinforced with the company airplane, too. “Customers know that when I land practically at their front door, it demonstrates that I represent a solid, stable and successful company.”
